The Snowman

Saturday, December 22nd, 2012

It was originally planned that our local community police team would produce this window but when police duties prevented, Belinda Walsingham, owner of Box of Delights (previously known to people as Monty the Cat) stepped in and did a fab job at short notice. Andy Trotter narrated a precis of the story of The Snowman and Penny Howes sang ‘Walking in the Air’ which was lovely.  The Box of Delights team provided bucks fizz and mince pies and we were glad to get inside out of the rain!

Simply appalling weather this morning for Stuart Carr’s artwork inspired by Three Kings Follow the Star but some hardy stalwarts turned out and as well as listening to the story in the pouring rain we also sang three verses of the carol before trooping inside for mulled wine and mince pies – thanks Mick!

The Legend of Father Christmas

Saturday, December 15th, 2012

Lots to see in today’s window at The Wellington on The Legend of Father Christmas produced by one of the owners, Fiona Gerard.  Andy Trotter narrated the story and Father Christmas made another appearance today, probably to verify its authenticity.  The Wellington kindly provided hospitality and the social chit-chat continues from day to day as we now hit day 15 of Welwyn’s Advent Calendar.
